Abstract

Repeated psychiatric admissions are costly and burdensome for caregivers and their children. The study examined whether caregiver characteristics (i.e., strain, support, coping style, empowerment) are related to readmission. Of these, empowerment was significant. Implications include the need for individualized/context specific care, as well as including empowerment practices in treatment.
