Abstract

The literature has long emphasized the role of neocortical regions in arithmetic calculations. In contrast, in four different studies and using a stereoscope device, the involvement of monocularly segregated-subcortical regions in arithmetic was examined. The results provide a novel converging evidence that subcortical regions have a functional role in arithmetic.
