Abstract

Being single in a society where marriage and religion are considered as important identities implies both social and psychological challenges that potentially threaten singles’ well-being. This study demonstrates how social and religious values interplay in constructing socio-cultural expectation of an ideal marriage and how never-married individuals respond to such expectation.
