Abstract

We investigated the relations between personality traits, motives, and daily emotion regulation strategy use with an experience sampling methodology (N=119). All big five traits, except agreeableness, were associated with strategies used to regulate negative emotions. Individuals also used different strategies dependent on the motives they pursued.
