The Impact of Stigma on Parenting in Families of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Abstract
This study examined the impact of stigma on parenting among parents of children with ASD. Findings showed that experienced discrimination was positively associated with affiliate stigma and, in turn, harsh parenting (ps<0.001). Findings highlighted the contributions of public and internalized stigma to parental harshness in families of children with ASD.
