Abstract

The extent to which emotion variability (EV) is behaviorally adaptive is experimentally explored within the context of a motivational conflict. A decrease in negative EV was associated with an increase in action self-efficacy and a decrease in perceived difficulty of action. In conclusion, less EV is facilitative of approach behavior.
