Are You in or Are You out?: The Role of Empathy in Visualizing Ingroup and Outgroup Members

Previous research suggests that people visualize ingroup members more positive than outgroup members. But how do empathy and concern impact this disparity? Using a reverse correlation technique, we show that empathy changes the extent of outgroup bias in visual representations with those at the extreme ends showing the least bias.
