Abstract

Disgust encourages a tidy world where categories are closely monitored. In a diverse sample, disgust predicts religious conservatism and perceptions of racial congruity between the self and Jesus. That is, those who are sensitive to disgust exhibit more religious fundamentalism and describe Jesus's skin tone as resembling their own.
