Abstract

This study examined longitudinal associations between Latino youth’s ethnic-racial identity and depressive symptoms across adolescence. In early adolescence, youths’ positive views of their ethnic-racial group, and the importance of their membership, were protective against depressive symptoms. In later adolescence, youths’ views of how others perceive their ethnic-racial group was protective.
