Abstract

Grit is a personality trait defined by Duckworth (2016) as passion and perseverance for long term goals. Participants, predominantly Latinx and African American, completed measures of grit, optimism, procrastination and retrospective parenting styles. Grit was positively related to optimism and authoritative parenting, and negatively related to three types of procrastination.
