Abstract

Value-behavior inconsistency, when acknowledged, is an aversive experience. We focus on strategies of dissonance reduction in the situation of hypocrisy. How importance of a value driving inconsistency affects dissonance magnitude and its reduction? We present the results of the first series of studies on hypocrisy from dissonance perspective.
