The Death-Denying Function of Intimacy: A Meta-Analysis

Abstract
We conducted a meta-analysis to investigate the association between close relationships and reminders of death using a terror management theory framework (k = 37). The summary effect was significant, Cohen’s d = 0.27, p < .001, indicating that mortality salience increases relational striving more than a control condition.
