Abstract

Little research tests the social validity of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Social validity refers to the extent to which individuals consider the procedures of an intervention to be socially acceptable/useful. Results indicated that 5 of 9 CBT emphases were less socially valid for US- and foreign-born Asians than Whites.
