Abstract

We detected a moderating effect of the Oxytocin receptor polymorphism rs53576 on the impact of childhood trauma on empathy for psychological pain in a sample of 302 individuals (148 diagnosed with BPD). The results suggest that A-allele carriers are more sensitive towards early maltreatment and that maltreatment affects empathy.
