Abstract

Racial disparities in pain care in the US may stem from a perceptual source. Our lab built a large, high-quality, diverse database of faces expressing pain, in terms of race, gender, and expression variability. All stimuli were normed on dimensions relevant to pain and emotion perception (demographics, social/emotional evaluations, believability.)
