A Deviance Regulation Theory Intervention to Reduce Alcohol-Related Problems Among First-Year College Students

Abstract

Alcohol-related consequences are a significant problem among US college freshmen. The current study investigates the use of the Deviance Regulation Theory to increase alcohol Protective Behavioral Strategies. Results indicate PBS use was inversely associated with alcohol use (B = -0.10, p = .043), and indirectly to alcohol problems.
