Recognizing Emotions: Light VS Dark Faces

Abstract

This study investigated an evolutionary explanation for individual’s preference for lighter skin. Using a largely Hispanic population sample, individuals viewed male and female photos that had been both lightened and darkened. Results indicated that participants were quicker and more accurate in correctly identifying emotions for faces with lighter skin.
