Abstract

We examined the relationship between depressive symptoms, exposure to violence, temperament, and home environments among low income preschool children. Findings confirmed that low income preschoolers exhibit symptoms of depression. Further, analyses revealed that violence exposure, home chaos and negative affect statistically significantly predicted number of depressive symptoms in this sample.
