Abstract
Data from the 2012-2013 NESARC-III (N=36,309) were used to examine DSM-5 substance use and psychiatric disorders by marital status (cohabiting vs married) and race/ethnicity. Cohabiting adults had higher rates of mental and substance use disorders than those who were married.
