Abstract

Judgments of learning (JOLs) are usually higher for high frequency (HF) words than for low frequency (LF) words. In two studies, word frequency was manipulated through several contrasting intervals of HF and LF words. Effects on JOLs and recall were only found between the most extreme values of word frequency.
