Mindfulness Changes Construal Level: An Experimental Investigation

In two experiments, we manipulate an incidental mindful state to test its consequence on individuals’ level of mental construal. Employing two different experimental manipulations of mindfulness and two different measures of construal level, we find consistent evidence that mindfulness prompts individuals to think at a higher, abstract level of construal.
