Abstract

HIV conferred additional risk for atherosclerotic plaques to HIV-infected women only. Specific guidelines may be needed to address the specific needs of women living with HIV. Measuring carotid atherosclerotic plaques via ultrasound may be an effective strategy in detecting the early CVD and identifying those in need of intervention.
