Abstract

In the current study, we examined whether self-reported characteristics of words (e.g., personal use, offensiveness, tabooness) predicted behavioral data. We found significant correlations between self-reported characteristics of the words and the reaction times to such words in a taboo Stroop task (e.g., more offensive words resulted in longer reaction times).
