Abstract

Meditation has been shown to increase altruistic and prosocial acts. We report evidence that meditation also attenuates aggression in response to a real-time provocation. In addition, this effect occured without an increase in executive control, indicating meditation directly reduces motives to harm rather than increases cognitive inhibition.
