Abstract

A hierarchical multiple linear regression was used to examine the effects of socioeconomic and psychological variables on self-efficacy in 215 chronically-ill youth. Having parents with less than a high school education, being African American, and depression symptoms predicted lower self-efficacy. The model accounted for 22% of the variance in self-efficacy.
