Theory-Based Reasoning Differentiates Entity Vs. Incremental Beliefs about Athletic Ability

Abstract

Undergraduates completed a survey of entity/incremental beliefs about intellectual ability and mapped their theory-based reasoning. Those with higher incremental beliefs mapped the feature "Scores highly on an IQ test" as a cause of other features. Individuals with lower incremental beliefs tended view IQ as the effect of other features.
