Abstract

This study investigated associations between approach and avoidance coping, depression and anxiety, and binge and disordered eating among a sample of 402 obese patients presenting for pre-surgical psychological evaluation before bariatric surgery. Avoidance coping and depressive symptoms emerged as consistent predictors of binge eating and other forms of disordered eating.
