Gender, Romance, and Dating Assertiveness Across the Lifespan

Using a cross-sectional design (302 participants in four age groups: emerging, young, middle-aged,
and older adult), we examined age and gender differences in beliefs about romance and dating
assertiveness. We discuss the gender and age difference findings supporting the importance of taking
a lifespan perspective when investigating love and relationships.
