Keyword: OverconfidenceAbstract: Using a randomized experiment (n = 465), we examine employees’ reactions to their organization’s use of hiring algorithms, outsourcing to hiring experts, and student interns. Serial mediation analysis showed participants experienced greater job insecurity from experts and interns than algorithms, which heightened overconfidence and reduced aid use.
