Keyword: LiteracyAbstract: English reading is notoriously difficult. In this study, we explore how origin of words in early childhood and adolescence differ. Results from phonological networks reveal a clear Germanic-Latin origin segregation that varies across ages. Results support a bidialectal model of reading in English that impacts readers from diverse language backgrounds.
