The Association between Repaired Patient-Therapist Alliance Ruptures and Patient Improvement in Variants of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Keyword: OtherAbstract: Among patients receiving cognitive behavioral therapy for generalized anxiety, we examined whether the alliance rupture-repair process was more strongly associated with outcome for patients with more interpersonal difficulties. Results indicated that unrepaired ruptures associated with worse outcomes and repairs with greater improvement for all patients, regardless of presenting interpersonal difficulties.
