Complex Trauma, Indigenous Values, and Capitalism: Contributing Factors to Identity in Native Hawaiian Adults

Abstract: We examined C-PTSD symptoms, capitalist values (CV), and Hawaiian values (HV) as predictors of identity disturbance (ID) in a Hawaiian sample (M_age=21). C-PTSD symptoms predicted greater ID (p<.001), HV endorsement predicted lesser ID (p<.01), and CV had no association. Results are largely consistent with the existing Indigenous and identity literature.
