Algorithm Aversion Persists: Experience Reduces Trust, Customizability Offers No Solution

Keyword: Decision MakingAbstract: This study examined whether the customizability of decision aids increases user trust, accounting for prior experience. Findings revealed that while prior experience decreased trust, customizability had no significant effect. These results suggest that alternative strategies, like transparency and feedback, may help overcome algorithm aversion and foster trust in decision aids.
