Examining the Processes Underlying Accurate Prediction of Implicit Attitudes: People Can Become Aware of Their Own Subliminally-Created Implicit Attitudes Toward Novel Stimuli
Poster Session IV
Friday May 23, 2025 (16:00 - 17:00 ET)
Keyword: Implicit BiasAbstract: Participants (N=204) were subliminally exposed to a novel stimulus 0 vs. 30 times. Only participants in the 30 exposure condition accurately predicted their own implicit evaluations of the stimulus. This suggests that repeated activation can lead to awareness of one's own implicit evaluations, even if this activation is unconscious.
