Keyword: Attention and DistractionAbstract: This study investigated whether preferred music among two cognitive styles, empathizers and systemizers, would distract participants doing visual search tasks. Empathizers performed significantly better on the task regardless of music type, pointing to the possibility of differences between the two cognitive styles on general distractibility on visual search tasks.
