Keyword: ConflictAbstract: The study explored whether an additional country influences emotions and cognitions toward international conflict. Ninety-one students in Japan (mean age = 20.2) were shown one of three types of a presence of another country in vicarious retaliation. The presence of another country decreased positive emotion but increased the perceived power.
