Submission Categories

With all presentation formats, presenters must present on-site at the Convention in Seattle, Washington.

Symposium

A focused session in which individual speakers present their research on a common topic. Symposia should have the dual goals of providing diversity of perspective and integrating those perspectives into a meaningful whole. A symposium includes a chair, 3–4 presenters, a discussant (optional), and is scheduled in an 80-minute session.

Submitted Talk

An individual presentation delivered by a primary researcher in a particular area of psychological science. Submitted Talks are 15 minutes total, inclusive of presentation with slides and audience Q&A. Submitted Talks will be grouped together to form a cohesive session around a common theme and scheduled consecutively within 80-minute sessions.

Flash Talk

A 5-minute individual presentation with slides, grouped by topic into 50-minute sessions, with time for 1–2 audience questions after each talk.

Standard Poster

An informal, interactive presentation in which presenters display their work on a physical poster and engage in one-on-one or small-group conversations. Posters are grouped by topic and scheduled in 50-minute poster sessions.

Teaching Poster

Teaching posters pertain to the teaching of psychological science, including teaching techniques, innovations, evaluation, and philosophy. These posters are scheduled on Thursday as part of the pre-conference Teaching Institute, which requires an additional registration fee.
