Deadline: October 1, 2023
Each nomination must be supported by two APS Members: A primary nominator is responsible for submitting the nomination form, and will be asked to provide the name and email address of a secondary nominator, who will then receive a link to their portion of the nomination form via email. Each nominator is asked to answer 6 questions regarding the nominee’s work. The primary nominator is also asked to provide the nominee’s complete electronic curriculum vitae.
Individuals being considered for Rising Star designation will be evaluated for their promise of excellence in research based on the following considerations:
- Significant publications;
- Significant recognitions;
- Significant discoveries, methodological innovations, or theoretical or empirical contributions;
- Work with potentially broad impact;
- Commitment to diversity in science; and
- Demonstrated independence from mentors.
Eligibility: Eligibility for the 2023 nomination period is limited to individuals who received a PhD between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2022. Extensions will be considered for nominees who have taken time away from research for reasons such as medical, disability, family care, natural disasters, active duty military service, or complications caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Nomination materials should include information supporting the need for an extension. The Rising Stars committee will consider extension requests on a case-by-case basis as the nominations are evaluated. Prior approval for an extension is not necessary.
Please consider the diverse and international nature of our field in nominating colleagues. Nominations of members of underrepresented groups in psychological science are encouraged.
