Panelists Helena Karnilowicz from Google, Michelle Lee from New York University, Zachary Heinemann from Intercom, Elizabeth Creighton from Brazen, and Tom Carpenter from Microsoft will speak about how they have effectively built networks and used them to progress in their careers.

Brazen

Elizabeth Creighton is the founder of Brazen, a user experience consultancy firm. She held multiple user experience roles before starting her own user experience consultancy practice. She received her PhD from the University of Chicago in cognitive psychology, where she studied the role of attention and memory in visual perception.

Google

Helena Rose Karnilowicz is a Senior UX Researcher at Google. She received her PhD in Social/Personality Psychology from UC Berkeley in 2021, where she studied emotions and social relationships. Since then, she has helped companies build products that connect people with each other and their communities.

Michelle Lee is a recently defended social psychology PhD from New York University and an incoming Assistant Professor of Psychology and Asian American Studies at Amherst College. Her research interests broadly cover activism, persuasion, and inequality.

Tom Carpenter

Microsoft

Tom Carpenter is a Director of Data Science at Microsoft. Prior to his data science roles at Microsoft, Tom was an Associate Professor at Seattle Pacific University where he mentored undergraduate students, taught statistics courses, and studied a variety of topics at the intersection of social psychology and mental health.
