Call for Manuscript Proposals: Special Issue in Current Directions in Psychological Science
Global Collaborations in Psychological Science
Associate Editor: Dr. Paulo Boggio
Global collaborations and big team science are transforming psychological research, offering innovative approaches to addressing pressing global challenges. The purpose of this special issue seeks to highlight research that explores the impact of international collaboration in psychological science, with a focus on fostering inclusivity, enhancing replicability, and expanding research beyond WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic) contexts. We invite proposals that examine key successes, lessons learned, and innovative methodologies from cross-border studies. This special issue will also explore how global collaborations advance cultural understanding and equitable leadership, particularly within the Global South. In doing so, we encourage critical discussions on challenges such as resource disparities, power imbalances, and the integration of diverse epistemologies and methodologies in psychological science
We welcome manuscript proposals addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:
- The role of big team science in improving research replicability and generalizability
- Cross-cultural perspectives on psychological phenomena in global collaborations
- Challenges and solutions in conducting inclusive, equitable, and ethical international research
- Innovative methodologies for fostering global collaboration in psychological science
Manuscript proposals will be reviewed on a rolling basis up until April 15, 2025 and should adhere to the Current Directions submission guidelines for unsolicited proposals. Proposals may be uploaded at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/cdps with a cover letter indicating that they are intended for this issue.
