Become an APS Wikipedia Fellow: Apply By 10/15
We are pleased to continue a new opportunity for APS members to join the Wikipedia Fellows Program, an interdisciplinary project led by Wiki Education to train academic scholars to contribute content expertise to Wikipedia. The general public uses Wikipedia to seek answers, learn about issues important to them, and make decisions. Scholars who bring their understanding of complex issues in psychological science to Wikipedia can empower the public to participate fully as citizens and share important knowledge with the world.
Wiki Education is launching a Wikipedia Fellows cohort this fall, following several inaugural cohorts held over the summer, and we welcome APS members to apply to learn how to contribute to Wikipedia and improve articles related to your area of psychological science. APS Wikipedia Fellows will join members from other academic associations for weekly virtual meetings over the next few months. Participants will learn to contribute to Wikipedia, receiving guidance and support along the way.
- No experience with Wikipedia is required.
- Participants are asked to commit 3 hours/week, including training and group meetings.
- Wiki Education will provide training, guidance, and support throughout the process, using video conferences and instant messaging software—both free.
- Participants will make significant contributions to at least two Wikipedia articles by the end of the program.
- Fellows will fill out short surveys in the beginning and end of the program, and Wiki Education will ask them to write a reflective blog post (on org) about their experience.

My favourite feature of Wikipedia is the random article button. I find it fascinating learning about all different random things. I was called a geek at school, but I am on the autistic spectrum and I am still not diagnosed at 27 which often brings me down as people still sometimes get annoyed with some of my traits that I can’t help, such as the fact that I sometimes get extremely attached to certain people such as when I am in a relationship. To a non-autistic person they would probably call it clingy but to me it isn’t. I just wish that people would understand me more sometimes I feel that I am so misunderstood
