Code of Conduct
APS has always been committed to the importance of science being conducted, discussed, presented and published in ways that promote the lively and productive exchange of ideas. This means avoiding actions or speech that could reasonably be construed as harassing or personally disparaging, including behavior during APS conventions. Because of the increased public awareness of these issues, we felt it important to reaffirm our commitment to these ideals by making explicit the expectations for conduct at APS conventions, as follows: “APS encourages and expects all convention participants to conduct themselves professionally and, out of respect for others and for the spirit of our gathering, to refrain from actions or speech that could reasonably be construed as harassing or personally disparaging.”
