Abstract
We examined how attitudes and partisanships interact on selective exposure. We found that selective exposure was mediated by psychological reactance, which was moderated by news exposure. Selective exposure was stronger when attitude and partisanship were inconsistent; When they were consistent, stronger reactance toward counter-attitudinal news led to weaker selective exposure.
