Effects of Continuous Thought Suppression on Subsequent Implicit and Explicit Memory

Abstract
Participants suppressed emotionally negative and neutral target phrases for a period of time and subsequent memory for the target was tested. Continuous thought suppression increased the target accessibility as indicated by both the response time in an implicit test (Experiment 1) and cured recall in an explicit test (Experiment 2).
