Abstract

Terror management theory (TMT) was used to explore the role of priming on decision-making. 65 participants experienced a prime read a court case and provided a verdict. “Terror” prime resulted in longer sentences (5.5 months; 3.9 “awe”, 4.9 control). Strongest differences were based on political affiliation p < .10).
