Abstract
This study examined non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) in a general population sample of young adults (N = 507). Nearly 30% of respondents reported self-injury, and approximately half (46%) had thought about self-harm. Urges to self-harm ranged in intensity and duration. Key differences in NSSI were also found on gender and race.
