Abstract
This thesis will examine how the credibility of foreign-accented statements are affected by brief exposure to or prior familiarity with an accent. Previous attempts to explain this phenomenon have focused on social factors and processing difficulties. We ask whether prior and brief exposure are, by themselves, significant predictors of credibility.
