Perceptions of Alford Defendants

The Alford plea allows defendants to maintain innocence while accepting a plea. We examined perceptions of these defendants and found that while they were perceived as more remorseful than other defendants, the plea decision made rather than the plea offered was more influential in lay people's perceptions.
