Abstract

Most Fortune 100 companies crafted messages responding to the 2020 BLM protests – and more of those messages utilized moral claims than instrumental claims. In a pre-registered experiment (N=386), use of moral claims led to perceptions of greater organizational care (p<.001) and greater intent to act in the future (p<.001).
