Abstract

As hypothesized, in this study of 472 U.S. undergraduates, allocentrism (collectivism) positively correlated with social connectedness (r=.38) which, as hypothesized, inversely correlated with perceived stress (r=-.40). Contrary to prediction, perceived stress was not predicted by either self-rated allocentrism (r=-.09) or informant-rated allocentrism (r=-.11).
